This Friday, May 8th, 2020 from 4pm-6pm at the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office at 1 Criminal Justice Dr. in Conroe, TX there will be a rally to demonstrate our objection to Montgomery County Sheriff Henderson’s April 30th, 2020 response to Texas Governor Abbott’s plan to reopen businesses in Texas as outlined in his April 27th, 2020 Executive Order which can be found here.

The issue at hand is the fact that under Texas Law, violation of an Emergency Plan – CJIS# 53990021 is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor with $1000 fine and up to 180 days in jail or both and is the foundation for Sheriff Henderson issuing citations to citizens for getting haircuts, massages, and tattoos, among other things. However, there is no restriction of these activities under the current Emergency Plan thereby making any citations or arrests under this premise invalid. The guidance from the Governor states that citizens should “avoid” these types of activities, but they are legally allowed to be open for business.

As Americans, Texans, and residents of Montgomery County we must use our best judgement for our personal behaviors and actions during this time or any other time to protect ourselves, our family and our communities. We cannot allow bureaucrats or the enforcement officers enabling their authoritarianism to decide what is best for us as individuals. It is times like these that we must remind our representatives in Conroe, Austin, and Washington D.C. that they serve at the will of the people, and the will of the people shall not stand for their oppressive power grab.

This event is being hosted by Dennis Daniel and a Group organized on Facebook called Open Montgomery County.
